Case Study: Pharmaceutical Marketing & Communications company, London

  • Some plants await quality control before loading and despatch

Premier Planters have recently completed a stunning office planting scheme to compliment and enhance this client’s inspirational new office environment an imaginative conversion of a former ferry workshop on the bank of the River Thames.

This isn’t the first time this striking location has hosted innovation – the building was previously home to famous British sports car manufacturer AC Cars, and before that the revolutionary Williams central valve steam engine was designed and manufactured as far back as 1880.

The office environment is a fluid blend of rustic and contemporary extremes; from the carefully preserved exposed timber and iron beams to sleek glass partitioning systems, the concept perfectly reflects the company’s design-driven approach to everything it does.

Tricky Design Criteria

Always keen to tackle a challenge, our designers were elated with this opportunity to really flex the imagination and duly perfected a scheme that delighted the project managers.

In the reception area, large architectural plants were coupled with distinctive tall square containers, carefully wrapped in braided banana fibres – a sustainable choice to perfectly harmonise with the wooden floor.

The breakout area was adorned with the unmistakable silhouettes of Fiddle Figs (Ficus Lyrata) planted in matte finish Mocha Qubique400 planters. The real challenge came when planters for the open plan areas were required in a very specific colour…

Vintage purple is spot on

After much research, we sourced a Ford 1970’s vintage purple paint which was applied as a gloss coat to our Qubique400 planter – resulting in a perfect match to the required colour.

These were then planted with a selection of bold plants such as branched Draceana Marginata, Ficus Bonsai and Beaucarnea

The design hub in the “attic” needed something dramatic: a huge Beaucarnea was installed in the remarkable gloss purple Cubique400 planter and framed with some small corporate coloured planters positioned on the cabinets either side.

Delighted customer wants more

This was an exemplary project where Premier Planters’ expertise shone. The plants are now thriving under our comprehensive maintenance plan and more have just been specified for a newly opened area of the offices.
